Pet Class at 4-H

Homeschooling for us means customizing education to fit the needs of our children. Both our kids love to learn and love to follow their interests. We've been part of a small 4-H co-op for almost 2 years, where we meet to do themed activities.

One month, Maureen (another 4-H mom) and I were at the playground and hadn't yet thought of an activity. Jessica wanted to do pets and suggested making some dog biscuits. So on our 4-H day, the kids made biscuits, talked about pets they wanted, created their own "animal," played animal games, and donated some supplies to a local animal shelter. Our co-op is set up so participation is optional and everyone partakes in the activities that appeal to them. Plus, there's lots of time to play and get together too.

Jess and Henry loved making the biscuits. We all tried them and then gave them to a neighborhood dog. Henry liked leading the games and Jess made a 3 headed cat.
